Greater Seattle (WA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated Scholarship
(for graduating high school students)
The Greater Seattle (WA) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated was established in 1955 with a commitment to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the identities, culture, and economic survival of African-Americans and persons of African descent.
The Greater Seattle (WA) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated has awarded more than $2 million in scholarships and grants-in-aid to deserving students in the Puget Sound region. When you apply via this scholarship application, you will be considered for a range of possible awards, some of which have specific areas of focus like the arts.
Scholarships will be awarded to qualified high school seniors of African American descent who are U.S. citizens and demonstrate exemplary leadership in their family, school and the African American Community.
Scholarship are to be applied towards tuition and educational expenses and will be paid directly to the college or university. This scholarship will be issued as a last-in award. This means that once all other aid/grants have been paid out, this scholarship will cover the remaining balance.
Recipients will be selected by an impartial panel of judges convened by the Greater Seattle (WA) Chapter of the Links Incorporated. Judges will rank students based on the merit of the submitted application.
Eligibility Criteria
All students applying for this scholarship must meet the below eligibility criteria:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be a high school senior of African American descent.
- Require financial assistance to attend college.
- Demonstrate leadership in school or community.
- Demonstrate achievement in academics.
- Be involved in service to the African American community.
- Must be in your final year of high school and graduating from high school with plans to matriculate to higher education.
- Plan to attend a four-year college or university, community college or an accredited technical/vocational program in the fall of the year following high-school graduation (online degrees and for-profit trade schools do not qualify).
- Must reside within The Greater Seattle (WA) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated geographic and service areas in Washington State (King, Snohomish, Kitsap, Clallam and Jefferson counties).

To apply for a Greater Seattle (WA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated Scholarship, please register and create a SurveyMonkey Apply individual applicant account. You will be directed to a new page where you will select "Register as an individual" with s to enter your personal information. Please note that all application materials will be submitted on SurveyMonkey Apply including the following items:
- An essay: In no more than 300 words, evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.
- A letter of reference from a school mentor, teacher or administrator. (If you are interested in being considered for an Artistic Excellence Scholarship, please submit a recommendation from someone who is familiar with your artistic talent, such as an arts teacher, drama teacher, or music instructor. Only one letter of reference is required.)
- A certified copy of exam transcripts for ACT, SAT and/or AP score(s). If you opted not to take standardized tests, there is a short question to explain why.
- A Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA OR a letter from your future school (college/university or vocational) indicating eligibility for financial aid.
- A signed Press and Media Release.
- An official or unofficial high school transcript. (If selected as a scholarship recipient, you will be required to submit an official high school transcript.)
- A photo of yourself.
