Description

The Reita Cruze Scholarship was created in 1995 by Deane Cruze, Boeing Senior Vice President, Operations, in honor of his wife, Reita’s, commitment to children and education. The scholarship was also meant as a tribute to The Boeing Company and the thousands of people that make up the Boeing “family.” 

The purpose of the Reita Cruze Scholarship is to honor and give financial support to deserving high school seniors. Two scholarships of up to $7,500 will be awarded to students pursuing a career in the business world and who intend to attend a college or university within WA state; preference however will be given to students who intend to attend one of the five universities listed here: Seattle University, University of Washington, Washington State University, Western Washington University, Central Washington University.  Applicants must be the dependent or child of a Washington-based Boeing employee who is on the active payroll and has been with Boeing for a minimum of five years.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  2. Must be a child or dependent of a Boeing employee based in Washington State who is on active payroll and who has been with Boeing for a minimum of five years.
  3. Must be attending an accredited public or private college or university in Washington State. Preference will be given to students who plan to attend Seattle University, University of Washington, Washington State University, Western Washington University, or Central Washington University.
  4. Must demonstrate financial need.

Award Details:

This scholarship is a one-time award up to $7,500.

How to Apply:

To apply for the Reita Cruze Scholarship, please register and create a SurveyMonkey Apply individual applicant account. To do so, please click on the green "Register" button on the top right of the screen, not the "Apply" button. You will be directed to a new page where you will select "Register as an individual" and prompted to enter your personal information. Upon creation of your applicant account you will click on "View programs" and search for the Reita Cruze Scholarship, using the search bar. Complete the SurveyMonkey Apply online application with all required attachments. 

Key application components include:

  • Essay: Write a brief essay telling us about yourself and why you want a career in the field of business. Discuss the challenges you foresee and how you think you can contribute to the business world and contribute to the community.
  • References: Include two reference letters with your application. These letters should be from people who know you through your academic or employment experience or your community leadership and participation. (Do not include relatives as references.)
  • Transcript:  Please upload a copy of your high school transcript(s) for all schools you have attended. An unofficial transcript is acceptable for application. Scholarship recipients will be required to submit an official transcript to The Seattle Foundation by July 15; funds will not be released to your school until we receive it.
