Description

The Gjurasic Family Foundation scholarship
has been established by architect Luke Gjurasic
in celebration and loving remembrance of the
Capt. (M.M) Mirko E. Gjurasic Family
of Croatian origin, and in thanksgiving helping
others as the family has been helped by others.


The mission and vision of The Gjurasic Family Foundation Scholarship is to further a world where built environment professionals reflect the growing diversity of Greater Seattle and all students have an equal chance of success in meeting their academic goals. The scholarship supports students pursuing Master’s degrees at the University of Washington’s College of the Built Environment. A total award of $10,000 is available for the 2021-2022 academic year, and students are encouraged to reapply each year. The total award of $10,000 may be awarded to (1) one or, allocated among several student recipients, at varying award amounts. Eligible use of this fund includes college tuition and fees.

The criteria for eligibility include the following:

1) Level of study: 

  • This scholarship is exclusively offered to students enrolled in the Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) graduate degree in the Department of Architecture at the University of Washington's College of Built Environments

2) Financial Need

3) Minimum GPA 3.0

4) Active involvement in community, school, or other extracurricular activities

5) High regard for integrity and ethics

6) Preference will be given to students who identify as women and/or whose parents are immigrants or who are immigrants themselves working to establish roots in America. You may or may not be a U.S. citizen but must be a legal immigrant with the intent to stay or establish citizenship.

(This scholarship is not available to relatives of the Gjurasic family or The Seattle Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee.)
